Football is back. Unfortunately for fans that means former Liverpool and England striker Michael Owen is back in the commentary box.

Taking his seat behind the mic for the Community Shield between Arsenal and Chelsea, the BT Sport pundit quickly became a top trend.

Owen, 35, was labelled 'boring', 'monotone' and 'annoying' on social media, with several users suggesting that had opted for the mute button rather than listen to him.

Plenty others were a bit more X-rated in their use of language.
