Football in Brief: Westley to take Deepdale reins; Malouda not happy on bench
Stevenage's back-to-back promotion-winning manager Graham Westley is set to be named the new Preston North End manager on a two-and-a-half year deal at the League One club.
It will cap a remarkable rise for Westley who, in his second stint at the Hertfordshire club, took them from the Blue Square Premier to League One in two years. They beat Reading in the FA Cup on Saturday. Westley was in Preston last night for talks and an announcement could be made as early as today. Sam Wallace
Malouda not happy on bench
Chelsea's Florent Malouda has admitted his frustration at his peripheral role in the Chelsea squad. "I will never be happy to be on the bench and I think that's normal," he said. "Every player in the squad is like this."
After setting up a goal in the 4-0 FA Cup win over Portsmouth, though, he believes he has made his point to manager Andre Villas-Boas: "With the quality I have shown, I've shown what I can do and, when I play at that level, I can protect the position in the starting XI."
