Gus Poyet is surely destined for the Premier League, and sooner rather than later.

It will be a sad day for Brighton if and when one of the big clubs come in for him, but it seems inevitable that he will be snapped up, given the way he has come in and revitalised the club, from top to bottom.

I played against him a few times towards the end of my career and he was always a real handful, very strong and with great stamina. More recently I have chatted with him a few times when he has appeared on Match of the Day 2 and I have been hugely impressed.

He is very knowledgeable about all facets of the game, and knows about all the other stuff that goes on behind the scenes. Gus knows just how to run a football club from top to bottom and by all accounts has made fundamental changes to the way Brighton is run.

No disrespect to Brighton but Gus would, I am sure, like to manage one day in the Premier League, and if he keeps on progressing like he has, I am sure it will happen in the near future. He takes his team to Stoke today and I fancy them to get a replay.
