There was confusion over the length of time Daley Blind will be sidelined for today, with Manchester United tweeting that he would be out for six months because of his knee injury, only for the club's manager Louis van Gaal to later clarify that the player will not be out for six months and hopes to play again this season.

Blind picked up the injury while playing for the Netherlands on Sunday in their 6-0 Euro 2016 qualifying win over Latvia.

"It's not as bad as the doctors thought after the match. It shall be a long story - but not six months or something," Van Gaal said.

"He has a brace on his knee. After 10 days' rest, he'll have another scan that will say more about the injury."

Van Gaal added that the pair of Angel Di Maria and David De Gea will be fit for the fixture against Arsenal on Saturday.

Di Maria had injured his foot playing for Argentina, while goalkeeper De Gea dislocated his finger while with Spain.
