Guardiola has confirmed he will remain with Bayern next season despite links with a move to the Premier League

Pep Guardiola has dismissed any chance of joining Manchester City this summer after reports claimed he had already agreed a deal to move to the Premier League in the summer.

44-year-old Guardiola faces an uphill task to overturn the 3-0 defeat Bayern Munich suffered in the Champions League semi-final first leg against his former side Barcelona. During the loss at the Nou Camp, Guardiola blasted a number of players that led to some dissension among the Bayern ranks, and led to rumours of a dramatic exit in the summer.

On Saturday, Guardiola was linked with a pre-agreement with City to replace Manuel Pellegrini in the summer only for the club to completely deny that a deal was in place, and the Spaniard has confirmed on Monday morning that he will not leave Bayern in the summer.

"I've already said 200 million times - I'll be here next season. That's it," Guardiola said at a press conference ahead of the semi-final second leg.

"I have a year left on my contract. Next season I will be here."

Turning his attentions to the second leg clash against Barcelona, Guardiola admitted that his side need to improve defensively if they are to resist the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez.

"Barcelona are strong on the break," said the former Barcelona head coach. "If we let something slip, they'll punish us.

"We have to defend well. We can't go on the all-out attack. We have to control the game.

"We're Bayern - before a game I've never said that we have no chance. Of course we do."

Failure to overturn the 3-0 deficit will see the Bundesliga champions eliminated at the semi-final stage in Europe for the second straight season since they won the famous trophy in 2013. Last season, they suffered a humiliating 5-0 aggregate defeat to eventual winners Real Madrid, and Guardiola will not want to go out to opposition from his homeland for the second straight year.
