Puskas award runner-up Stephanie Roche has proved that the stunning strike that saw her nominated for the goal of the year award last year was no fluke.
The Irish striker came second behind James Rodriguez's World Cup wonder strike in the 2014 Puskas Award, but may have given the 2015 another goal to consider after scoring a brilliant volley for the Republic of Ireland.
Playing against Costa Rica, Roche anticipated a cross from the right, controlling a bouncing ball on her chest before unleashing a brilliant dipping volley from 20 yards.
"Sue [Ronan] and Paul [Martyn' and the rest of the staff have been telling us that we have to finish our chances," Roche said after the game.
"I was glad that I had the opportunity to get the shot off.
"I gave Denise [O’Sullivan] a shout because I knew it was on my better foot, and luckily enough she left it for me and I managed to get it out of my feet and get a shot."
Ireland won 2-1.
