This year, the player of the season has been hard to pin down. Gareth Bale won the Footballers' Player of the Year, Scott Parker won the Football Writers' award and Nemanja Vidic picked up the Barclays gong.

But no-one is better placed to judge who shined brightest for their team than the supporters, who not only can appreciate their skill but tend to merit their endevour and personality traits as well. Interestingly, just two of the players featured here played a part at last year's World Cup.
