In his short time as Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood has made the gilet his own. During his side's defeat to north London rivals Arsenal last Sunday, he even went as far as throwing the sleeveless jacket down the White Hart Lane tunnel in frustration.
The item of clothing more synonymous with rowers in west London than gaffers in north London is by no means the first piece of clothing or notable accessory to find itself associated with a particular manager.
Over the years an assortment of things have been inseparable from football bosses on match days and over time thoughts of the manager have become inseparable from the item.
So from chewing gum and green jumpers to toothpicks and cigarettes, we take a look at some memorable items...

Tim Sherwood and the gilet, plus other items football managers made their own Sir Alex Ferguson and his gum You wouldn't want to be the person at Old Trafford who had to clean the underneath of Fergie's seat during his 26-year reign at Old Trafford. The Scot was never without a piece of chewing gum in his mouth. It has been reported that (apparently*) Ferguson's last piece of chewing gum as United manager sold for just under £400,000 on the internet auction site eBay, with the proceeds going to charity.

Tim Sherwood and the gilet, plus other items football managers made their own Roberto Mancini and his scarf During his time at Manchester City Roberto Mancini was rarely without his sky blue and white scarf. The classic football accessory was brought back into fashion at City after Mancini's arrival from Inter Milan, with the scarves he used to wear originally only being given as a complimentary gift to season ticket holders. Demand for them in the club shop surged once the suave Italian started sporting the neck warmer.

Tim Sherwood and the gilet, plus other items football managers made their own Arsene Wenger and his coat zip You would think that for all the time Arsene Wenger has been in charge at Arsenal the club would have provided him with a coat that he would be able to do up with ease. Many people have shared a laugh at the Frenchman's expense when trying to watch him zip up his jacket. Hopefully Arsenal's new kit manufacturers Puma will give him a jacket that has buttons or Velcro instead.

Tim Sherwood and the gilet, plus other items football managers made their own Tony Pulis and his baseball cap Stoke City fans will have fond memories of Tony Pulis pacing up and down the touchline, barking orders in his trademark baseball cap. In fact the Stoke fans, who used to sing 'Tony Pulis, he wears the club shop', paid tribute to their former boss by all wearing baseball caps when he returned to the Britannia with his new side Crystal Palace in January.

As he puffed away on the sidelines, it may have crossed his mind it wasn't the best example to be setting his players.

His choice of attire during his stints with the two sides seemed to suggest that he was ready to put himself on as a substitute at any point.

Tim Sherwood and the gilet, plus other items football managers made their own Jean Tigana and his toothpick Part of that brilliant France midfield of 1984 with Michel Platini, Luis Fernandez and Alain Giresse, Jean Tigana was a surprise choice when he took over as Fulham boss in 2000. During his time with the Cottagers he led them to an FA Cup semi-final, into the UEFA Cup via winning the Intertoto and also got them promoted to the Premier League. However, he will perhaps be best remembered for chewing on a toothpick during matches.

Another part of his memory which was also pretty loud was Old Big 'Ead's trademark green jumper.

Probably the most sharply dressed out of our ten picks, his outfits are something no other manager has tried to emulate.

During his time in charge of the Samba Stars he sported a series of unbelievable outfits. Maybe he was trying his best to outshine his incredibly talented squad from the touchline when Brazil played Portugal in 2007?
