Arsenal injury news: Aaron Ramsey a major doubt to face Swansea with Danny Welbeck and Mathieu Debuchy ruled out

Arsenal take on Swansea with the chance to move level on points with second-placed Manchester City

Arsenal could be without Aaron Ramsey for Monday night's Premier League match against Swansea after the midfielder suffered a calf injury during last week's win over Hull.

Ramsey starred in the 3-1 win at the KC Stadium, in which he scored in-between an Alexis Sanchez double to keep the Gunners on the up in their quest to steal second place from Manchester City. However, given Ramsey’s impressive showing against both Hull and Chelsea the week before, manager Arsene Wenger will have wanted to go into the game with one of his form midfielders.

To compound that issue, striker Danny Welbeck is almost certain to miss the matches as he continues to struggle with a knee injury, but Wenger did hint that the England international will return next week in order to regain full fitness before the FA Cup final on 30 May.

Mathieu Debuchy is also still on the sidelines, while Mikel Arteta, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Abou Diaby remain out of contention despite returning to training.

With Ramsey a possible absence, Jack Wilshere could be handed his first start since returning from a five-and-a-half month lay-off after suffering an ankle injury last November.

The 23-year-old looked sharp when he came on for Ramsey at Hull, and Wenger could be ready to throw him back into the thick of it against as side who beat the Gunners 2-1 when they met at the Liberty Stadium.
