Arsenal name squad of 18 Alex Oxlade-Chamberlains despite England star being ruled out injured for Tottenham draw

Arsenal's Twitter account brought a whole new meaning to the phrase one-man team

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger lamented his inability to bring on any attacking options during the 1-1 draw with Tottenham on Sunday due to his growing injury concerns, but that did not stop the club’s official Twitter account trying to.

In fact, not only did they name a complete substitutes’ bench of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlains, they named an entire squad made of just the England international to bring a whole new meaning to the term ‘one-man team’.

The irony comes in that Oxlade-Chamberlain was never available for selection as he remains injured, and there will have been some uncomfortable questions this morning for the club’s social media team over how the error happened.

Social media users needed no second invitation to launch a wave of tweets in their direction, and the account soon atoned for the error and published the correct team.

Arsenal could have done with the availability of Oxlade-Chamberlain yesterday, or indeed any other of the injured attacking options that is having a big effect on their season at a busy time. Along with Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott and Aaron Ramsey are also out injured until after the international break at least, while Danny Welbeck and Tomas Rosicky are yet to play a single minute this season and will not return from injury until 2016.
