Arsene Wenger has revealed the secret to Mesut Ozil's outstanding success this season - he hardly ever trains.

The German playmaker has been in stunning form for the Gunners, making 16 assists in the Premier League already this season.

Ozil's Arsenal take on Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium today. Wenger said he even gave the 26-year-old a one-week holiday last month during the international break.

"Mesut, I gave him a one-week holiday during the international break," Wenger said. "At the moment he doesn't practise a lot, we rest him a lot between the games.

"He is a guy who once the basic fitness is there between the games, he wants to play.

"There are types of players, sometimes the most technical players, it looks like it demands less energy for them to play - it is just natural for them."

Arsenal's record £42.5m buy Ozil has started 18 out of the Gunners' 19 Premier League matches this season.
