Chelsea interim manager Guus Hiddink has revealed Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech picked up his gloves in person after Adidas mistakenly sent them to the Blues’ training ground.

The sportswear giant posted the 33-year-old’s new gloves to Cobham - where he trained for 11 years before his switch last summer - rather than the Gunners' training complex in London Colney.

Hiddink, addressing the media ahead of the Premier League match against their London rivals on Sunday, joked that the Chelsea backroom staff tried to sabotage the package.

“We had a chat,” the Dutchman said. “Almost everyone was gone. We tried to hide them, also we tried to make them slippery but he discovered that.

“They were sent here and we gave them back. That's the story. We tried to hide them and made them a little bit slippery.”

Arsenal are top of the Premier League table, on goal difference, ahead of the visit of Hiddink’s men to the Emirates Stadium.

The visitors are just four points above the relegation zone and may have to watch their former goalkeeper lift his fifth title in May if Arsene Wenger’s men are able to cement their position at the top.

“Everyone knows where we were in December," Hiddink added. "So far we are unbeaten but we cannot be fully satisfied with results.

“My main task is to get the team to where we desperately want to be. I'm focused on that job.”
