Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made two changes to his side ahead of Leicester City’s visit to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Per Mertesacker returns to partner Laurent Koscielny at the heart of the defence due to Gabriel Paulista’s hamstring injury.

Mathieu Flamini also drops out of the starting line-up and will have to make do with a place on the bench. Francis Coquelin will play alongside Aaron Ramsey at the base of the Gunners’ midfield.

Danny Welbeck, who has not played for the club since last April, is named among the substitutes.

Claudio Ranieri has named an unchanged side following last week’s brilliant away victory at Manchester City.

League leaders Leicester retains Shinji Okazaki up front alongside Jamie Vardy, while Riyad Mahrez starts on the right-hand side of midfield.

Arsenal: Cech; Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal; Coquelin, Ramsey; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Sanchez, Özil; Giroud

Leicester City: Schmeichel, Simpson, Morgan, Huth, Fuchs, Mahrez, Kanté, Drinkwater, Albrighton, Okazaki, Vardy
