Arsenal are looking to end an unwanted run of five games against Liverpool without a win, as well as make up for the 4-0 humbling they suffered at Anfield earlier this season, when the two sides meet at the Emirates Stadium on Friday night. Just a point separates the two sides in the Premier League table and both have sights firmly set on qualifying for next term’s Champions League.

However, pre-season hopes of a Premier League title challenge are well and truly over, and neither can afford to slip up tonight as both Burnley and Tottenham are sniffing down their necks with the four teams split by just three points.

33 mins: And just like that, Arsenal are so nearly 2-0 down. Firmino works the ball onto his right foot and shapes a ball from range around Cech that looks to be heading in, only to clear the crossbar by millimetres. The striker takes it well by pretending to celebrate, but he knows how close that was to finding the top corner.

36 mins: Milner wins possession on the edge of the Liverpool area, but quickly loses it to Lacazette and gives away the free-kick as a result. Ozil is eyeing this one up with Sanchez, and it's the former who hits it...into the top of the wall and behind for a corner.

39 mins: Arsenal are living as dangerously as a turkey at Christmas in order to try and get back into the game, and it's slowly turning the fans against them as has become to common at the Emirates against their top four rivals - and in particular Liverpool. They've shown nothing like the attack that was on display here against Manchester United and Spurs, and Liverpool nearly break through again when Coutinho pounces on a lose ball that Cech has to rush out and claim.

43 mins: Arsenal are pushing forward and after Wilshere loses the ball to Mane, he quickly regains it when Robertson passes it straight to him. He tries to play in Lacazette, but Klavan and Lovren have him well marked and steal the ball before he gets a shot away.

44 mins: Koscielny slips! He tries to cut out a ball from Milner on the right and inadvertently plays in Salah. The forward is clean through on goal, but Cech produces a wonderful save and the deflection is acrobatically kicked over the crossbar by mane. That should've been 2-0.

45 mins: Liverpool break through again and when Mane tries to play in Salah unmarked in the middle, he swings and misses at the ball. This game is wide open and it's Liverpool having all the chances.
