Brendan Rodgers 2/1 to be next Premier League manager sacked as Liverpool forced to deny reports of Carlo Ancelotti contact

Under-pressure Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is currently the second favourite Premier League manager to be sacked next with odds of 2/1, only Dick Advocaat of bottom club Sunderland has shorter odds of 7/4.

The Reds have been forced to deny reports this morning linking former Real Madrid and Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti with the job, as speculation grows that Rodgers' days are numbered.

Rodgers' Reds have failed to win in their last five matches in all competitions, and currently find themselves in 13th place in the league.

The next couple of weeks are seen as make-or-break for Rodgers, with three home games they should be winning and then the Merseyside derby away at Everton on 4 October.

The Reds face Carlisle in the League Cup tonight, then Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday before facing Sion in the Europa League on Thursday week.

The 56-year-old Ancelotti is available, having been sacked by Real Madrid at the end of last season.
