Premier League season in numbers

Burnley’s remarkable season will conclude this weekend and Sean Dyche’s side will play European football next season. Any notion of usurping Arsenal was quashed by last weekend’s five-nil defeat, and they host Bournemouth entrenched in seventh position.

Bournemouth are one of four teams on 41 points, with a top-half finish eminently possible with victory at Turf Moor. Eddie Howe’s men head north with Premier League safety very much secured, and with little to play for but pride.

There is the subtext of watching perhaps England’s two most highly rated managers do battle. To some extent contrasting in style, Howe was Dyche’s predecessor at Turf Moor and both will be looking to end their seasons in strong fashion.

Despite the fact that their side still has a chance at survival, albeit an extremely small one, some Swansea fans are voicing their concerns with the club's board and owners:

In terms of player departures probably the saddest goodbye to say today is to Michael Carrick, who will play his 481st and final Premier League game. Jose Mourinho says the midfielder will captain Manchester United in his 464th appearance for the club. Carrick will join the coaching staff at Old Trafford for next season.

Leon Britton and Angel Rangel leave Swansea after today, and it looks like a rather mournful end for two great servants. Britton played for the club in each of the four divisions, spending only a few months at Sheffield United in 2010-11 in an otherwise uninterrupted 16-season stint with the Welsh club.
