Jan Vertonghen believes the pressure is all on Chelsea in the Premier League title race despite the Blues being four points ahead with four games remaining.

League leaders Chelsea did what they needed to on Sunday winning at Everton before Tottenham closed the gap once more with victory over Arsenal just a few hours later.

Next up for Spurs is a trip to West Ham on Friday night and Vertonghen believes the chance to close within a point could prove decisive with Antonio Conte’s men not playing again until Monday.

“The pressure is on Chelsea. One defeat, and a win for us and the gap will just be a point,” he said.

Tottenham stayed in reach at the top dispatching the Gunners in the last-ever north London derby at White Hart Lane to ensure they will finish above their bitter rivals for the first time in 22 years.

Dele Alli and Harry Kane understandably took the headlines after grabbing the goals but Vertonghen feels the win was a true team effort.

“It was a massive game in so many different ways - we showed from the start we wanted to win more than them, and that we want to stay in the title race,” he added.

“It was a great performance throughout the team, from Hugo [Lloris] in goal through to Harry.”
