Jose Mourinho has deployed both Nemanja Matic and David Luiz in midfield in an effort to stifle the free-flowing Arsenal attack, as he looks to maintain his dominance over his arch-rival Arsene Wenger in what is the Arsenal managers 1,000th match in charge of the Gunners.

Without the suspended Ramires and Willian, who were both sent-off in last week’s 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa along with Mourinho, the Blues will look to Matic to continue his impressive form since rejoining the club in January, and he returns to the side to partner Luiz after missing the Champions League success over Galatasaray due to ineligibility.

Andre Schurrle comes in for Willian, while Samuel Eto’o continues in attack. Frank Lampard drops to the bench to accommodate Luiz.

Arsenal’s side appears to pick itself at the moment, given that injuries to regulars Mesut Ozil, Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and Theo Walcott sees Arsene Wenger name an unchanged side that triumphed at north London rivals Tottenham last weekend.

January loan signing Kim Kallstrom is named on the bench and could make his first appearance since his deadline day move, having suffered a back injury that has kept him sidelined ever since.

Line-ups:

Chelsea: Cech, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta, Luiz, Matic, Schurrle, Oscar, Hazard, Eto'o.

Subs: Lampard, Torres, Mikel, Salah, Ba, Schwarzer, Kalas.

Arsenal: Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Arteta, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Rosicky, Cazorla, Podolski, Giroud.

Subs: Vermaelen, Flamini, Fabianski, Sanogo, Jenkinson, Kallstrom, Gnabry.

Referee: Andre Marriner (W Midlands)
