Callum Hudson-Odoi explains his approach to ‘educating’ and ‘improving’ his game for Chelsea
The winger has been in much-improved form of late
Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi is pleased with his upturn in fortunes recently, but says he’s working hard to improve not just in the short term, but as a player for the long haul.
After injury issues and a long-running contract stand-off, he looks to be getting back on track now with a handful of impactful performances in Frank Lampard’s side. The latest outing came with a goal in the FA Cup win over Morecambe, adding to his consolation strike against Manchester City in the Premier League recently.
The cup win got the Blues back to winning ways and Hudson-Odoi says the emphasis will be on seeing the domestic competition as a route to silverware this season.

“I’m happy with myself, I’m happy with the team, everybody is excited. We want to be and do better every game so we are going to keep trying in training and keep working hard,” he told the club website.
“It’s a big competition and we want to go as far as possible. We try our best in every game we play and we are delighted to go through to the next round.”
Looking further down the path of his career, Hudson-Odoi believes his manager knows the type of game he can bring to the team and, thus, how best to improve the 20-year-old.
The wide forward revealed he works not just on the training pitch at improving his own game, but also with video aids at home to learn how best to alter his approach.
"Nobody is a perfect player. There are always flaws and you want to keep improving every day. I want to keep working hard and learning every day.
"I want to keep educating myself whether it’s at home watching clips or just learning under the manager. He knows what to do and he knows what is right for me and how to play so I want to keep learning under him and working hard.
“Every time I get on the pitch or in training, I want to give my best every time. I want to give 110 per cent in the match. I want to always make sure that I’m ready. The best way you train is the best way you play in a game.”
