Chelsea's Kurt Zouma to undergo scan on knee injury amid fears defender's season is over

Frenchman suffered serious injury during Blues' draw with Manchester United on Sunday and will have an MRI today

Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma will undergo a scan on his knee today after suffering a horrific injury against Manchester United on Sunday.

The 21-year-old was left screaming in agony after landing awkwardly on his right knee in the 58th minute at Stamford Bridge.

He was carried from the pitch on a stretcher amid fears that his season could be over.

Guus Hiddink, the Chelsea interim manager, admitted after the game the injury looked ‘bad’, but would not speculate on how long the centre-back might be out.

Hiddink told Sky Sports: “Tomorrow we will know more, but if you have this injury it’s bad. Let’s see. It’s a hyperextension and that’s always bad. I had this problem once and it hurts very much. I am not a doctor, let’s wait and see what the MRIs will show.”

Frenchman Zouma has impressed hugely for Chelsea alongside John Terry this season. His appearance against United was his 32nd of the season.
