Crystal Palace 1 Fulham 4: Ian Holloway avoids questions over his future ahead of meeting with Eagles owner Steve Parish

Holloway saw his side succumb to a heavy defeat which leaves them second from bottom with just a single win to their name

Ian Holloway refused to comment on his future as Crystal Palace manager following their 4-1 home defeat at the hands of Fulham on Monday night.

The Eagles boss has been dealing with speculation about his future for some weeks and saw his side lose the lead given to them by an early Adrian Mariappa header as Fulham stormed to the three points.

Two wonderful volleys from Pajtim Kasami and Steve Sidwell, plus second-half efforts from Dimitar Berbatov and Philippe Senderos, completed the rout but Holloway, who held a prolonged meeting with Palace owner Steve Parish in the aftermath of the result, was bullish when questioned about the outcome.

"I'm not talking about my future at the football club, I'm talking about the football club and that is all I have ever done," he said.

"I'm not going to talk about what we just spoke about to be perfectly honest.

"I will be speaking to him [Parish] tomorrow [Tuesday] morning when the lads are in.

"It is about what is right for the football club and that is what it will always be about between me and Steve.

"We were having a meeting anyway, we always do when we are having a warm-down. We will talk about some bits and pieces and learn from it. That is the meeting and that is what we always do."

Fulham boss Martin Jol refuted claims that his side needed the big margin of victory as a way to boost their collective morale.

"I feel my team has enough confidence," he said.

"We have got some very good players but we have to play as a team.

"With all of this offensive qualities in the Premier League, it is not always easy to get the balance right."

Jol, who had new owner Shahid Khan watching from the stands, was pleased with his side's response to leaking an early goal.

"After that first goal we came back, we showed a lot of resilience, mentality and I think we played better than Crystal Palace," he said.

"That is what you want. You want to control the game, especially in the second half our midfield did well.

"Of course we took a little bit of a risk to play Berbatov, [Darren] Bent, [Bryan] Ruiz and Kasami, but I think we did well."
