Crystal Palace transfer news: Eagles lead chase for £6m Charlton Athletic wonderkid Ademola Lookman
Two Premier League clubs competing to sign the teenager who is currently playing for Charlton in League One
Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion are competing this afternoon to sign Ademola Lookman, Charlton Athletic's highly-rated 18-year-old winger.
Lookman has a £6m release clause and after Charlton's relegation to League One they will find it difficult to repel Premier League interest in the England Under-19 international.
Lookman is one of the most well-known teenagers in the English game and has been watched extensively by Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City over the last few seasons.
At the very end of this transfer window Palace have decided to move on the youngster from south London, a player who slipped through their grasp at the age of 16, signing for Charlton instead. But Tony Pulis' West Bromwich Albion have made a late move this morning to rival Crystal Palace, and are also willing to pay the £6m fee.
Lookman himself is not desperate to move either way and would happily play for Charlton, but he is likeliest to leave for the Premier League before the window shuts.
