Danny Drinkwater is set to be available for Leicester City’s final Premier League match of the season after avoiding any further action following his red card in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday, with the Football Association set to confirm the news later this week.

Drinkwater was sent-off for a second bookable offence after he was adjudged to have brought down United winger Memphis Depay, earning the England international an automatic one-match suspension.

However, the midfielder reacted angrily towards referee Michael Oliver, and risked facing further action for failing to leave the field in an orderly fashion, leaving the possibility of an FA charge of improper conduct that his Leicester teammate Jamie Vardy incurred last month.

However, it has been reported that Oliver did not note Drinkwater’s reaction in his referee’s report, and subsequently the midfielder will miss this weekend’s final home game against Everton only, leaving him free to play in the final match of the season at Chelsea. Confirmation is expected to come later this week.

Vardy received an additional one-match ban on top of the automatic suspension after he verbally abused referee Jon Moss before leaving the field in the 2-2 draw with West Ham, and he missed the 4-0 victory over Swansea and Sunday’s draw at Old Trafford, though he will return for the visit of Everton.

Leicester could walk out against the Toffees as Premier League champions, given that Tottenham must beat Chelsea tonight in order to keep the title race alive. If Spurs fail to beat the outgoing champions and their London rivals, Leicester will have a big enough gap to hold off Spurs with just two matches remaining, and a part atmosphere will follow at the King Power Stadium as Leicester celebrate their first ever top flight success.
