People across the United Kingdom woke up on Friday morning to learn that the country had voted to leave the European Union.

While the 51.9 per cent of voters who chose to leave the single market will have woken up and found the majority to be with them, many of the other 48.1 per cent will have felt a little ill.

Those in the latter camp who follow Tottenham Hotspur on Twitter will certainly not have felt any better once they saw the club’s timeline this morning.

Spurs’ social media accounts attracted criticism after posting a message reading “Good morning! #FridayFeeling”, with an image of French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

The tweet was subsequently deleted but it did not go unnoticed.

London, and Tottenham’s home borough of Haringey, overwhelmingly voted to remain in the EU.
