Welcome to the Independent's live coverage of Arsenal's trip to face Everton in the Premier League as both sides reflect on what could have been this season.

Arsene Wenger watched his side get picked apart by European champions Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday evening, despite an admirable display, as another dream fell flat at the Camp Nou. The Gunners trail leaders Leicester City by 11 points, with a game in hand, but this campaign has already become about damage limitation.

Everton, meanwhile, had hoped to mount a more credible challenge for a top four space but instead languish in the bottom half with 10 matches to go of a disappointing season.

Everton vs Arsenal...

  • Bryan Oviedo likely to be out for Everton despite returning to training following a chest infection.
  • Kevin Mirallas and Gareth Barry both suspended, opening the door for Muhamed Besic
  • Arsenal without Mathieu Flamini, owing to a hamstring injury against Barcelona
  • Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, Petr Cech, Santi Cazorla and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all out
  • Everton: Joel, Baines, Funes Mori, Jagielka (c), Coleman, McCarthy, Besic, Cleverley, Lennon, Barkley, Lukaku
  • Arsenal: Ospina, Koscielny, Bellerin, Gabriel, Monreal, Coquelin, Iwobi, Elneny, Sanchez, Ozil, Welbeck
