Chelsea have emerged victorious from the previous four encounters between these sides, and are currently on a run that has seen them win 8 of their last 10 games as they continue their pursuit of second-placed Manchester United.

Sam Allardyce, appointed Everton manager in December, has taken his team up to ninth in the league with three victories and a draw in his short time at the club. Confidence at Goodison Park will be high off the back of a comprehensive midweek victory against Swansea; with record signing Gylfi Sigurdsson scoring from distance. The Icelander has had a recent upturn in form with three goals and two assists in seven outings, after a slow start to his Everton career.

Allardyce has no new injury concerns going in to the fixture; and may be tempted to welcome winger Yannick Bolasie back into his matchday squad as he returns to fitness following a cruciate ligament injury picked up this time last year. Ross Barkley and James McCarthy are still absent, but are expected to return to training next week.

David Luiz is the only injury concern for Antonio Conte ahead of selection for the game, as the Brazilian remains sidelined with a knee injury. Alvaro Morata, who missed Chelsea’s 3-1 victory at Huddersfield, is likely to return to starting line-up after coming off the bench against Southampton last week.

What time does it start?

Everton vs Chelsea is at 12:30 on Saturday 23rd December.

Where can I watch it?

The game will be shown on Sky Sports Main Event.

It’s a big game for…

Tiémoué Bakayoko. Following his big-money move to Chelsea from Ligue 1 champions AS Monaco in the summer, the powerful midfielder has struggled to replace Nemanja Matic in the heart of Chelsea’s midfield. For all of his physical attributes Bakayoko’s technical ability has been questioned and will need to improve as Danny Drinkwater continues to wait for a sustained opportunity in the Chelsea first team after moving to Stamford Bridge for £40 million in the summer.

Player to watch…

Eden Hazard. The Belgian has adapted well to a new role under Antonio Conte, partnering Morata in attack, scoring 8 and assisting a further 7 so far this season.
