It’s a big game for…
Divock Origi. The Liverpool youngster faces Everton for the first time since Ramiro Funes Mori’s ‘scandalous’ tackle put him out of the game for more than a month. Origi suggested that Funes Mori had failed to apologise personally to him, instead issuing “an official message”, and the Belgian has warned that Monday night’s clash “will be war”. Expect fireworks at the very least.

Remember when…
Daniel Sturridge’s late equaliser salvaged Liverpool a point in November 2013? The two sides met at Goodison Park in one of the most memorable Merseyside clashes in recent years. With Everton seemingly set for a 3-2 victory, Sturridge’s late goal in the 89th minute ensured the spoils were shared.
Player to watch…
Simon Mignolet. The Belgian impressed on his return against Middlesbrough and is expected to start once again tonight. With question marks continuing to hang over himself and fellow ‘keeper Loris Karius, Mignolet will need to keep his cool in arguably his side’s biggest game of the season so far. The pressure is on and it’ll be very interesting indeed to see how he handles it.

Past three meetings…
Liverpool 4 (Origi, Sakho, Sturridge, Coutinho) Everton 0, Premier League, April 2016
Everton 1 (Lukaku), Liverpool 1 (Ings), Premier League, October 2015
Everton 0, Liverpool 0, Premier League, February 2015

The two teams emerge from the tunnel and Goodison Park erupts in anticipation.
The 227th Merseyside derby is next.
KICK-OFF: One of the most awaited events of the football calendar needs a man for the big occasion, and this Everton v Liverpool fixture has. The man in charge is Mike Dean, taking control of his first Merseyside derby, and it is his whistle signals to Divock Origi to get the game underway with Liverpool's kick-off. Both sides are in their traditional colours with Everton defending the Gwladys Street End.
4 mins: It's been a frenzied start on Merseyside, but one that has taken place almost solely in the middle of the pitch. At least that is the case until Seamus Coleman comes to the fore. The right-back drives his way past James Milner to cross into the Liverpool box twice in a matter of seconds; the first delivery was poor, the second was excellent and required an equally impressive header from Ragnar Klavan to clear.
6 mins: More early Everton joy down the right. Enner Valencia won possession off Roberto Firmino in midfield and found Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian put his head down and accelerated into attack but his cross-shot across the face of Simon Mignolet's goal did little more than mildly concern his compatriot.
9 mins: The first nine minutes has flown by in the most frantic of fashions. Both sets of supporters are clearly up for it, and that has channelled its way to the players on the pitch. It's excitingly scrappy but is in desperate need of a calm head to take control of proceedings. Who's up for that challenge?
12 mins: Ooof! The tackles are flying in regardless of whether the ball is in play or not. After Mike Dean had whistled to signal an infringement on Valencia from Firmino 25 yards from goal, Ross Barkley launched into Klavan with a thumping sliding tackle. Other than the award of the original free-kick, Dean takes no action and once all involved have calmed down, Valencia strikes the set-piece into the wall.

14 mins: If you're looking for a cool head to take control of this one, don't glance over to the Liverpool technical area. Jurgen Klopp has just unleashed a terrifying verbal volley in the direction of James Milner after the left-back lost out to Seamus Coleman in a tackle. This is not for the feint-hearted.

17 mins: Liverpool's best spell so far slows the game right down and a number of interchangeable passes in midfield has the visitors suddenly opening up pockets of space in attack. Eventually the ball is sent into the feet of Origi, but poor control from the Belgian has Everton on the move at pace again. Within seconds, another Coleman cross into the penalty area falls for Ross Barkley, but the England midfielder fails to take it in his path and the half chance is passed up.
