Hakim Ziyech has become Chelsea’s first summer signing after the club confirmed the arrival of the Moroccan international for £33.3m.

Ziyech is familiar to the Blues of course, with Frank Lampard taking a close look at the 26-year-old over both Champions League group stage games - with the Blues winning 1-0 in Amsterdam, but Ziyech leaving his mark in the 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge with three assists. The first was a whipped, left-footed cross for Quincy Promes to convert from close range before another fine delivery out near the corner flag.

Kepa Arrizabalaga misjudged the flight of the ball and it bounced back off the post and into the back of the net off the Spanish goalkeeper. Ziyech set up a third in the second half too, fizzing a pass into the feet of Donny van de Beek inside the penalty area, and the Dutch midfielder converted into the bottom corner to extend their lead to 4-1 before a remarkable comeback from the hosts.

After 21 goals and 24 assists last season, Ziyech has backed that up with eight more goals and 21 assists this term.

Ziyech should line up from the right of a front three, but could easily play in behind Tammy Abraham as the No 10. Lampard may look for Ziyech and Christian Pulisic to swap roles throughout games with both versatile enough to influence the game from out wide or through the middle.

Here are the best highlights from Ziyech last year and a taste of what he could bring to the Blues next season.
