Hector Bellerin’s agent expects the full-back to sign a new contract extension with Arsenal after holding positive talks with the club.

Albert Botines was in London last week to discuss a new deal with Arsenal officials who are keen to snuff out interest from Barcelona for their young star.

Bellerin, who still has three years remaining on his current deal with the Gunners, has been in superb form for the club this season and is rapidly becoming one of the Premier League’s best right backs.

The Catalonia-born defender has also broke into the Spain senior squad in the past year and, despite being a surprise omission for upcoming squad to face England at Wembley, Bellerin looks set to become one of their key players for the future.

“We are speaking and are now a lot closer than we were two weeks ago. In a normal situation he will sign,” Botines said.

“Héctor is very happy at Arsenal. This would be the fourth time he has signed a new contract at the club and it is clear he has made good progress.”

In spite of this, Bellerin continues to be linked with a move back to Barcelona after leaving the club as a youngster to join the Gunners in 2011.

The arrival of former boss, Pep Guardiola, at Manchester City also led to some speculation attaching the 21-year-old with a move to Eastlands in the summer but no formal bid was made.

Bellerin, however, is enjoying life in North London after nailing down a first team place for Arsenal last season.

Bellerin will feature for Spain’s Under-21 side in their European Championships play-off showdown with Austria as they bid to qualify for next summer’s tournament before returning to London for Arsenal’s clash with Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium.
