Hugo Lloris has proved himself as one of the 'world's best' after dislodging Brad Friedel

Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor is not surprised Hugo Lloris has grabbed his chance to prove himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

The 25-year-old France international suffered a frustrating start to his career at White Hart Lane after his £12million summer move from Lyon.

Lloris struggled to dislodge Brad Friedel from the starting XI for Premier League matches, prompting his international manager, Didier Deschamps to say: “He is getting on with it as best he possibly can (but) obviously he would like to play more.”

However, Lloris was preferred to Friedel for the north London derby earlier this month and even though Arsenal won 5-2, was retained for the matches against Lazio and West Ham — and repaid Andre Villas-Boas’s faith with two convincing performances.

Villas-Boas has hinted that he is ready to end his policy of rotating goalkeepers and, with Lloris expected to keep his place against Liverpool tomorrow, Adebayor believes Lloris will quickly establish himself in the Premier League.

“I knew him well already and what he has done hasn’t surprised me, because I know how good he is,” said Adebayor, who is suspended for the game at White Hart Lane. “We’ve got four amazing goalkeepers (Carlo Cudicini and Heurelho Gomes are also at Spurs), all good professionals working hard.

“We’re happy for Lloris because he has already had some fantastic games. I knew about him when I was playing in France and I still love watching the French league, so I’ve known for a while how good he is. I am also good friends with [striker] Bafetimbi Gomis, who played with Hugo at Lyon, and he has told me a lot about him. We are very happy to have him and in the last couple of games, he has proved himself to be one of the world’s best.”

Sandro could be available tomorrow despite being carried off against West Ham with a rib injury.
