Newcastle manager Alan Pardew was sent to the stands during the Magpies Premier League fixture with Hull on Saturday, after he appeared to try and head-butt Tigers midfielder David Meyler.

The two clashed beside the pitch in the second half of the match, with the Newcastle manager appearing to throw his head forward towards the 24-year-old. Referee Kevin Friend allowed the situation to defuse, before sending Pardew off.

Former England striker Gary Lineker was one of many to condemn his actions via Twitter, labelling the apparent head-butt “ inexcusable for a manager”.
