Jamie Carragher will wear a Manchester United shirt on Monday Night Football after losing a bet with Gary Neville, it's been confirmed.

The Liverpool legend will wear the jersey of his club's fiercest rivals for coverage of the Premier League game between West Brom and Manchester City on 10 August.

Carragher entered into a wager with his Sky Sports colleague over the goalscoring form of former Tottenham player Paulinho, who arrived at White Hart Lane two years ago for just under £17m. The 24-year-old was supposed to be a key component as Spurs set about remodelling the first team following Gareth Bale's £85m departure for Real Madrid.

And after a disappointing first season in which Paulinho scored just six league goals, Carragher backed the Brazilian to find his scoring boots and hit 15 goals during his second year in north London.

But the Spurs man drew a blank in the top flight last season, scoring just two across all competitions, and Carragher is set to pay the price.

Neville tweeted: "Just been confirmed @Carra23 has received my United shirt. He will wear it on the First MNF of the season."

Paulinho has since left for Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande.
