Jose Mourinho refuses to discuss Thibaut Courtois red card and says Chelsea impressed in the first half

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho refused to discuss the incident that saw goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois sent off against Swansea.

Chelsea players furiously protested Michael Oliver's decision to send off the Belgian and award a penalty, but replays showed the foul was just inside the box - although it was very close.

The Blues were leading 2-1 at the time but Bafetimbi Gomis, the man brought down, converted the penalty and after that the 10 men of Chelsea struggled to create chances.

"Penalty, red card, goal. After that it was difficult," Mourinho said after the game. "I don't think I need to do that, you have the cameras, you have the pundits.

"We played very well until the second half. First half I think high quality, with 10 men we fought hard.

"We played very well in the first half and the game was under control.

"To play 35 minutes with one player less, the first game of the season when the condition is not sharp, it is difficult."
