Manchester United would improve under the guidance of Jose Mourinho, believes the club's former striker Diego Forlan.
Mourinho continues to be linked with replacing current coach Louis van Gaal, with the expectancy such a deal will come to fruition only set to increase if Manchester United are knocked out of the FA Cup by West Ham this week.
After nearly two years under Van Gaal, the club appears to have made few strides forward in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era. The FA Cup, in which United are involved in a quarter-final replay at Upton Park on Wednesday, is their only hope of silverware this season. Champions League qualification remains possible, but Man City, the current side in the fourth qualifying spot, are better placed to do so.
Forlan, who won the Premier League with United in 2002/03, says that replacing Van Gaal with Mourinho would improve matters at Old Trafford.
Speaking exclusively to 888sport, Forlan said: "I think with what they have gone through in the past two years United would be better to have a coach with Mourinho’s experience."

Mourinho has persistently said he will return to management this summer and says his preference is to do so in England. However he has refused to talk about any specific club.
