The return of the Premier League brings with it many things - optimism, new kits and Juan Mata's weekly blog for Manchester United.

The Spanish midfielder likes to regularly update fans with his thoughts and musings on the latest goings on, and following Manchester United's opening day victory over Tottenham, the blog is back.

Mata was delighted to get three points on the board with the 1-0 win at Old Trafford, despite admitting it wasn't the most fluid of performances.

"As you could see, it was not a brilliant game but you can understand that, it being the first one, there’s still a lack of rhythm," he wrote on manutd.com. "It wasn’t easy for any of the teams, and the pressure from our opponent made it hard to play a fluid game, but we managed to score in the first half and that goal was enough to get the three points."

Mata also extended a welcome to the new arrivals at Manchester United - five of which made their debuts on Saturday.

Mata wrote: "Old Trafford saw the debut of many new players, and personally I think all of them had a good performance. It’s exciting to see how quickly they get settled and the warm welcome they got from our supporters!"

However, possibly the most interesting thing Mata had to say upon his blogging return was his view on Manchester United's home kit for the 2015/16 campaign.

Signing off, he wrote: "p.s. What do you think of the new shirt? I like its retro style!"

The kit is made by former manufacturer Adidas after United's relationship with Nike came to an end. Adidas produced Manchester United kits for much of the 80s and return after agreeing a 10-year deal with the club.
