New Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wasted no time getting down to work, watching the Reds Under 18s side defeat Stoke City 1-0 at their Melwood base on Saturday on his second day in charge.
The Reds academy side won 1-0, thanks to a goal from Ovie Ejara, and the midfielder said that "everyone was buzzing" thanks to Klopp's presence.
“Everyone was buzzing,” the scorer told Liverpoolfc.com.
“Obviously first impressions are important and it was a great feeling to be able to play in front of him already.”
Team-mate Corey Whelan added that the side were grateful for the opportunity to play in front of the new boss.
Klopp: I am 'the normal one'
He said: “It’s exciting because he’s new in and everyone is trying to make a first impression on him and trying to get our way up to Melwood. Knowing that he was watching us was a great feeling.”
Klopp's first game as Liverpool manager will be the away trip to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday lunch-time.
