Leicester owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha has private helicopter land on King Power Stadium pitch to fly him home after Liverpool defeat

Srivaddhanaprabha was in attendance to watch the Foxes' 3-1 defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday night but took little time in mounting a quick getaway

Leicester City must have hoped a change of luck was in the air on Tuesday night when Leonardo Ullo’s strike cannoned back off the post, into Simon Mignolet’s back and across the goal-lie to give the home side the lead.

Unfortunately for the Foxes, Liverpool goals from Adam Lallana, Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson soon overturned the scoreline to a 3-1 defeat, and it’s fair to say club owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha didn’t feel like hanging around the King Power Stadium.

The Thai billionaire was so keen to leave, that he had his private helicopter land on the pitch right in the middle of the centre circle, enabling him to stroll out the tunnel, board the chopper and disappear into the cold night air above Leicester.

Unfortunately for him, the match was being screened live on BT Sport, and the pitch was in clear view of analysts Robbie Savage, Michael Owen, Steve McManaman and Darren Fletcher, who immediately burst into laughter at the arrival of the helicopter.

While Srivaddhanaprabha may have endured an uncomfortable flight, it was a much more turbulent night for manager Nigel Pearson, who saw his side concede three goals as well as get himself into a spat with a Leicester fan.

Speaking after the match to Sky Sports, Pearson said: “I replied to one idiot in the stands and if he doesn't like what he sees, then don't bother coming.

“Maybe they ought to think about staying at home, we need support, their support. We've worked hard tonight and will continue to do so."

The defeat means Leicester have not won in nine games in all competition in a run that has seen them plummet to the bottom of the Premier League table, but at least they can take heart in the fact that they have found the back of the net three times in their last two games having ended the previous five goalless.
