Liverpool fans celebrate into the night after Premier League title win

It took 30 years but Liverpool have won their 19th league title, storming to victory with seven games remaining.

Jurgen Klopp has now inspired the Reds to title glory alongside their Champions League triumph last year.

The German has been a compelling watch throughout the campaign as the Reds set an astonishing standard for the Reds.

With just one defeat and two draws, the title has arrived in style – here are the best quotes from Klopp over the last year:

“If you go nuts and start taking drugs and drinking and driving different cars or whatever, and leave your missus at home because you are now the Champions League winner, then I can’t help you,” – on building on winning a sixth European Cup in June.

“The world at the moment is a circus with us at the centre. I am not influenced by it,” – after eight successive Premier League victories opened up an eight-point lead in mid-October.

“To be honest it was not that intense heart attack-wise, but I can imagine it is really hard to follow us and I am sorry for that – but at least at the end most of the time there is some relief,” – after scoring twice in the last five minutes to beat Aston Villa 2-1.

“It’s not important because who wants to be first in November? You want to be first in May. It’s only November. The pressure is not there yet. It will come,” – after beating title rivals Manchester City at Anfield.

“If it would be easy to win the amount of games we have done, then more teams would have done it. It’s not easy. The 2019-20 season is not over, we are halfway there. Who cares about points in December?” – after ending 2019 with a 13-point lead following 18 wins and a draw.

“I have been four and a half years in this country and I never heard that word before. What is ‘inevitable’? As far as I’m concerned we are not even mathematically qualified for the Champions League yet,” – after being told in January his side needed just nine more wins.

“A couple of years ago, three or four maybe, in the beginning, I said we want to write our own stories, we want to create our own history. Obviously, the boys took really seriously what I said there and that’s all cool,” – after a record-equalling 21st successive home league victory.

“We’ve never estimated the situation wrongly, we never thought it’s easy. But of course sometimes a little knock is important. Maybe the longer the run goes maybe it becomes more important,” – after defeat at Watford ended a 44-match unbeaten league run.
