Liverpool news: Daniel Sturridge 'ready to quit' Anfield in January as West Ham and Stoke register interest

Daniel Sturridge is reportedly ready to quit Liverpool, with a number of Premier League sides prepared to make a move for the 27-year-old.

The forward has fallen out of favour at Anfield under manager Jurgen Klopp, who has instead placed his faith in the likes of Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi.

With Sturridge growing increasingly frustrated at Liverpool, the England international is now allegedly eyeing a January transfer, according to the Daily Mirror.

Both West Ham and Stoke have been linked with the £120,000-a-week marksman, who has scored for times for Liverpool this season (although all have been in the EFL Cup).

With the Hammers currently suffering from a dearth of goals, the club is desperate is to bring in a forward with a proven goal-scoring record.

As for Stoke, the Midlands side have already drafted in Wilfried Bony on a season long loan from Manchester City but remain interested in Sturridge nonetheless.

Some have argued that Klopp’s decision to overlook Sturridge is justified, however.

Liverpool great Graeme Souness has suggested that the striker is at risk of wasting his potential at Anfield, partly due to his poor work ethic.

"Sturridge has that quality, but what he does not have, and which all successful teams want, is a work ethic," he recently wrote in the Sunday Times.

"That explains why two big clubs, Manchester City and Chelsea, have let him go and why he is now not in the starting team at a third big club, Liverpool. There have been some good judges who have doubts about him."

"Sturridge is 27 now and I would suggest he's not going to fulfil his potential. He either cannot maintain physically, because of his well-documented injuries, or does not want to mentally put in the shift as a team player that Jurgen Klopp demands."
