Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp hits out at social media after claims he had argument with Mohamed Salah

Klopp dismissed any trouble between himself and his star forward and also conformed that Roberto Firmino will not miss the rest of the season with injury

Jurgen Klopp has hit out at “social media” after dismissing reports that he had a falling out with star Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah.

The Liverpool manager watched his side rout Huddersfield Town on Friday night as the 5-0 victory saw the club return to the top of the Premier League, ahead of Manchester City’s trip to Burnley on Sunday.

Liverpool certainly didn’t look like a side that was internally at odds with each other, as displayed by Salah’s two goals and Naby Keita’s opener inside 15 seconds, and Klopp took the opportunity to speak afterwards to dismiss reports of a row with the Egypt international.

Asked about whether Roberto Firmino’s injury was season-ending as had been reported on Twitter, Klopp immediately drew on the Salah claims to hit back at the claims.

“Wow!” laughed Klopp when speaking to the BBC. “I always tell you, don’t believe three per cent of what is on social media!

“Let’s start with that, I had no argument with Mo Salah. Especially not after the Chelsea game. I have no clue why that should have happened.

“And Roberto Firmino is not out for the rest of the season.”

Firmino suffered a minor muscle tear during a Thursday training session that leaves the Brazilian striker facing a race to be fit for Liverpool’s Champions League semi-final first leg against Barcelona on Wednesday.

But Klopp believes he could yet feature at the Nou Camp and will certainly return to action before the end of the campaign.

“It’s true yesterday, after training, he fell obviously a little bit, he went to the physiotherapist and they wanted to wait overnight,” Klopp added. “This morning (Friday) he came and said he still feels it a little bit. It’s kind of a small tear. We will see.

“It’s Bobby Firmino, so I would say it’s likely he’s ready for Barcelona. Of course we don’t know 100 per cent.

“It’s not too long a time. Like I said, it’s Bobby and he’s a machine. We will see. We will take no risk of course. It’s good that we showed that it works without him as well.”
