Premier League preview: Liverpool v Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace were the last team to beat Liverpool at home in the Premier League, in April 2017, and they travel to Anfield this weekend.

League leaders Liverpool got back to winning ways with a disciplined 1-0 win at Brighton last week, and can stretch their lead at the top to seven ahead of Manchester City’s game at Huddersfield on Sunday.

After losing 2-1 at home to Watford last week, Roy Hodgson’s team lie in 14th place on 22 points, but just four points off the relegation zone. Follow the live action below.

What time does it start?

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace kicks off at 3:00pm (GMT) on Saturday 19th January.

Where can I watch it?

The match will not be shown live on TV or online in the UK.

Independent Sport will keep you up to date with all the goals as they fly in via our live blog.

Highlights will be shown at 10:20pm on BBC One.

Player to watch…

Mohamed Salah: The Egyptian was once again the match-winner last week at Brighton, winning and scoring the penalty which secured three important points. Currently joint top-scorer in the Premier League on 14 goals alongside Harry Kane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Salah is at times being deployed as a central striker, a role he is thriving in as Liverpool look to stay clear of Manchester City.

GOAL! Newcastle 1-0 Cardiff (Fabian Schar, 24 minutes)

First goal of the afternoon, and Newcastle lead!

Fabian Schar is a centre-back with considerable footballing ability, and he moves into the box nicely before firing past Neil Etheridge into the bottom corner.

PENALTY TO MANCHESTER UNITED! Paul Pogba is fouled. Manchester United 0-0 Brighton, 25 minutes.

Gaetan Bong brings down Paul Pogba, who perhaps goes down a little easily, and the referee points to the spot.

Liverpool 0-0 Crystal Palace, 30 minutes

Joel Matip has looked the likeliest scorer at Anfield so far, again rising highest but directing his header wide from a corner.

Manchester United 1-0 Brighton, 31 minutes

Twice Brighton crosses fly into the Manchester United area but on neither occasion can a player find the telling touch.

Strong response from the visitors.

GOAL! Liverpool 0-1 Crystal Palace (Andros Townsend, 34 minutes)

Now then!

Crystal Palace lead at Anfield!

Manchester United 1-0 Brighton, 35 minutes

Chances at both ends!

Anthony Martian's deft chip is well denied by David Button after running in behind, whilst at the other end Glenn Murray latches on to Solly March's cross and volleys wide.

GOAL! Manchester United 2-0 Brighton (Marcus Rashford, 42 minutes)

Two for Manchester United!

It is a lovely goal from Marcus Rashford, shimmy-ing to create space and bend his shot into the top corner.
