Louis van Gaal to Manchester United: Ryan Giggs to fly out to the Netherlands today for meeting - reports

Van Gaal is currently working with his Netherlands side ahead of next month's World Cup finals in Brazil

Ryan Giggs, who took temporary charge of Manchester United for their final four matches of the season after David Moyes' sacking, is expected to fly out to the Netherlands today with the club's chief-executive Ed Woodward to meet with incoming manager Louis van Gaal, according to reports.

The heir apparent Van Gaal is currently at a training camp with his Netherlands side as they prepare for next month's World Cup finals in Brazil.

It has been reported that the paperwork for Van Gaal to take over at United after the finals has been completed, and all that remains now is for him to finalise his back-room staff, which is why Giggs has travelled to for the meeting to see if he will be part of the Dutchman's plans.

It is expected that Giggs, who has played in a club-record 963 matches for the club, will be offered a role in the new coaching set-up.

But fellow Class of '92 member Phil Neville, plus goalkeeping coach Chris Woods, who arrived with Moyes last summer, will reportedly leave their United posts.

The meeting will take place today as Van Gaal is on a day off from his duties with the national team. They face Ecuador in a friendly in Amsterdam on Saturday.

The 62-year-old Van Gaal, who could be confirmed as United manager as early as tomorrow, remained coy on his future at his press conference on Tuesday.

"You must wait until the process is complete,” he said.

“If you want to know more, then you must put questions to Manchester United, or perhaps to another club.

“I cannot say anything further about it.”
