Man City vs Everton, player ratings: Gabriel Jesus and Riyad Mahrez shine for champions
The result inflicted Carlo Ancelotti's first defeat since taking over as Everton manager from the sacked Marco Silva

Gabriel Jesus starred on New Year's Day as Manchester City beat Everton 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium.
The result inflicted Carlo Ancelotti's first defeat since taking over as Everton manager from the sacked Marco Silva.
Everton showed another positive performance, this time against the champions, but couldn't create enough chances to seriously test Claudio Bravo in the first half.
Jesus struck with a brilliantly taken goal, bending a finish inside the far post, and added City's second at the end of a slick team move set up by Riyad Mahrez to give them a clear lead.
That all came after Phil Foden thought he had scored for the hosts, only for VAR to pick up the slightest of offsides by Mahrez in the build-up.
Everton did pull back a late reply through Richarlison, tapping home at the far post from substitute Theo Walcott's cross, but it was too little too late for the visitors.
