Manchester City news: Sergio Aguero ruled out of Argentina’s World Cup qualifiers with calf injury
The player picked up the injury during Sunday’s 3-1 victory over West Ham and was substituted late in the game

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has been ruled out of Argentina’s World Cup 2018 qualifiers with a calf injury.
The player picked up the injury during Sunday’s 3-1 victory over West Ham and was substituted late in the game.
The Argentina Football Association confirmed on Monday that that Aguero will subsequently miss the national side’s fixtures against Uruguay (September 2) and Venezuela (September 7).
This marks the latest setback for the Argentine whose time at City has been blighted by injuries.
Aguero missed six weeks of football last season after sustaining a hamstring injury in Argentina’s 2018 World Cup qualifying match against Ecuador.
Despite his absence, the striker still scored 24 goals – one behind Golden Boot winner Harry Kane. With his goals coming from 30 appearances, Aguero also recorded the league’s best goals to minute ratio.
No timescale has yet been given for his return from this most recent injury.
To make matters worse, Aguero is still waiting to find out whether the FA is to take any disciplinary action against him following his clash with Winston Reid during Sunday’s game.
The forward appeared to elbow the West Ham player and, if the referee says he did not see the incident in his match report, Aguero could face a charge and a possible suspension.
The Independent understands the FA will make their decision on Tuesday.
