Yaya Toure’s agent has insisted that the Ivorian midfielder will fight for his place at Manchester City after being omitted from Pep Guardiola’s recent match-day squads.

The 33-year-old was left out of Guardiola’s squad for City’s game against Sunderland and has not travelled with his side to Romania ahead of Tuesday's Champions League play-off against Steaua Bucharest.

But Dmitri Seluk believes that his player still has plenty to offer for City.

"Pep is the best manager in the world and I just hope he gives Yaya the chance to prove he is still good enough for City," he said. "Yaya is the perfect professional and he will do his job.

"City fans know he will do his best. He has not been included against Sunderland or Bucharest, but that's okay."

Toure's form dipped last season with just eight goals in all competitions and a number of reports have linked the player with a move away from the Etihad Stadium.

It’s believed that Wilfried Bony, Eliaquim Mangala and Toure have all been told they can leave as City look to dispense of some of the big wage packages at the club.

But Seluk has revealed the Toure is ready to perform when called upon.

"He is fit to play right now. Guardiola has to learn all about the players he has available," Seluk explained. "The performance against Sunderland was far from perfect.

"This is a very good process for Yaya. It will allow him in training and then in matches that he is still a wonderful player. But there is no talk of a transfer. Yaya will stay and fight."

Guardiola has made it clear that’s he spoken to the midfielder regarding his decision to drop him.

“I know Yaya from Barcelona, how he loves to play football,” Guardiola said. “I know perfectly his quality, he knows the reason why he was not on the list, because I speak with the players to say the reason why, and I know they're so professional.”
