Manchester United: Bryan Robson lauds Bruno Fernandes ‘leadership’ and influence on teammates
The Portuguese has hit the ground running since his big move in January, picking up the February Player of the Month
Bryan Robson has lauded Bruno Fernandes’ leadership for transforming Manchester United.
The Portuguese midfielder has been a revelation since joining from Sporting for £49.5 million in January.
The 25-year-old has three goals and four assists so far, and his form has already earned him the Premier League’s Player of the Month for February.
And United legend Robson has been thrilled by the Portugal international’s ability to demand more from his teammates.
“I think it helps that he was captain at Sporting. I just think it’s something that is naturally in you,” Robson said.
“Bruno looks as though he has got that natural leadership quality, where he demands from his teammates and that’s good.
“What I do like to see when he’s on the pitch is, even though he’s a forward-minded player, he’s already swivelling and looking on his shoulder, demanding of his team-mates.
“He’s telling people to push in and have them where he wants them, which is great.”

Fernandes is not satisfied with his quick start to life at Old Trafford though, insisting he can give more.
“Since I was a kid it was a dream to play for Man United, and to be there at Old Trafford is the biggest dream of my career,” Fernandes said.
“When you come to a new club you always want to score, and the first goal is special. It doesn’t matter how the goal is scored, but important is the goal’s worth.
“I’m happy with my start, but from now I need to give more, to be better.”
