Manchester United’s hierarchy are planning for Jose Mourinho to remain in charge for the next 10 years.

Mourinho joined the club in the summer on a three-year deal and despite leading the club to their worst start to a season for 27 years they want him to remain at Old Trafford for the long haul.

The 53-year-old has never stayed at a club for longer than three years but, according to the Mirror, United think they are capable of persuading him to buck that trend with them.

Despite the difficult start to life with the Red Devils, United look to have turned the corner in recent weeks with big name signings such as Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic starting to perform as the club are currently on a run of 10 games without loss.

United are keen for stability after two turbulent managerial reigns since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, with David Moyes and Louis van Gaal at the helm.

The Portuguese has already served two touchline bans and been fined in the five months he has been at the club but the newspaper claims United’s bosses are unconcerned by his discipline.

However, it is unclear whether Mourinho is as committed to this idea as his seniors given that he is still living out of the luxury Lowry Hotel while the rest of his family remain in London.

His family do frequently visit him but the former Chelsea manager admitted recently that his goldfish-bowl existence as “a disaster”.

He is also believed to be spending Christmas Day at the five-star hotel given United’s Boxing Day fixture against Sunderland at Old Trafford and has called the squad in for an afternoon’s training at the stadium on the 25^th.
