When a bird poo appeared to enter the mouth of Ashley Young earlier this season, the winger could not even find solace among his Manchester United team-mates, it has emerged.

During United's season opener against Swansea at Old Trafford, video footage appeared to show a bird dropping enter the mouth of Young as he berated his team-mates.

Young has always denied that the delivery from above was a bird poo, but according to his team-mate Luke Shaw, that didn't stop his Manchester United team-mates from poking fun along with everyone else.

"Ashley Young is the joker in the dressing room. We still laugh about the time he got bird poo in his mouth against Swansea," said Shaw in an exclusive interview with Match of the Day magazine.

"If you ask him now, he'll say it wasn't bird poo. In the changing room we hung a fake bird above his place as a joke which he didn't like."

Although much ridiculed, Young has gone on to have the last laugh after emerging as one of United's most influential players across the season, despite the summer arrival of Angel Di Maria that many thought would spell the end of his Old Trafford career.
