Jose Mourinho to blood Manchester United youngsters against Crystal Palace but Paul Pogba will return

Jose Mourinho is set to ring the changes as Manchester United continue to throw all of their efforts into the Europa League.

United host Crystal Palace in the final league game of the season this weekend before travelling to Stockholm to face Ajax in the Europa League final just three days later.

The game against Sam Allardyce's team will be No.63 of a hectic season with Mourinho at pains to point out how stretched his squad has been on numerous occasions this term.

And with more than one eye on next week Mourinho confirmed youngsters Kieran O'Hara, Demi Mitchell, Angel Gomes, Josh Harrop, Scott McTominay, Matty Willock and Zak Dearnley all set to feature in the matchday squad on Sunday.

"We will have Mitchell, Harrop, Gomes and McTominay," Mourinho said ahead of the game. "I will bring three or four of the first teamers to play one half each on Sunday. The only positive is to save my players and give them the best possible conditions to be ready for Wednesday.

“It will be a good occasion for the kids but I repeat the best conditions for a debut is being surrounded by a strong structure. I don't think it's good that there is a such a big difference in quality and strength between the kids and Crystal Palace.

"I prefer to hand debuts to only one young player at a time. That helps them as they come into a strong structure. Of course I spoke with Nicky and his opinion is important. I've been at every game they've played at Old Trafford, I know them."

"We have tried to bring the guys who are more adapted to playing at this level at the moment."

Paul Pogba is set to return to the side after missing the last two games following the death of his father and Mourinho is confident the Frenchman is in the right place mentally to play.

"Paul is fine and is a strong guy with a strong mentality. He is learning how to live after his father died," he added. "Paul knows he needs to play on Sunday as he needs he minutes. He will play against Palace."
