Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to give Manchester United youngsters a chance against Cardiff

Mason Greenwood has become the youngest player ever to start for Manchester United in the Premier League after being included in the XI against Cardiff.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given the 17-year-old talent a chance as he looks ahead to next season.

There are six academy graduates in the line-up, with Scott McTominay, Andreas Pereira, Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba also starting.

United are currently sixth, but can move up to fifth should they win and Arsenal slip up at Burnley.

Solskjaer has not included Ander Herrera in the squad, with the Spaniard set for a free transfer this summer when his contract expires.

Solskjaer has revealed the logic behind only selecting the youngster from the start now and the advice he has given him.

“We've been waiting to play Mason and he's been unlucky with a few niggly injuries," Solskjaer said. "He's been training with us now for the last three of four months, looking really good, he's done well in the youth team and reserves as well. Finally he felt good & we can start him.

“Just relax and enjoy it. I don't think he will be fazed. He is not that type of player. It is just natural for him, he loves playing football, so just enjoy the occasion, go out there and express yourself, and I am sure he will do OK."
